Change in phone calls for Tommy :(

Email Kenney received this week as we wondered why Tommy didn't call--- From: "Marcus Paul Astle" <marcus.astle@missionary.org> To: "kenneth.swallow@yahoo.com" <kenneth.swallow@yahoo.com> Cc: Sent: Sun, Mar 24, 2019 at 9:04 PM Subject: Tommy Boy Bula Vinaka!   This is Elder Swallow's friend and he just asked me to send you an email saying he can't video call you guys every week anymore because the mission president told them they can't use members phones to communicate with families.  He told me he wants to stay obedient so he can get the blessings for being a good missionary and learning the language and feeling like a successful missionary.  He said he can call every 3 weeks though when he comes down here to town.  Your son is a very good missionary and super funny.  It's been really cool serving around him.  Your family will be blessed because of his hard work and dedication.   Loloma Yani ...

The next week we went fishing with Totitera where we ride around in  a boat with fishing line and our hands no rods. We rode in a boat for like 5 hours and I c...

Phone Call Home!

When the policy about missionaries calling home changed we wondered if it would impact us since Tommy is on a remote island with very little electricity!  This week we got a call!! Apparently there is one cell phone tower on Rabi and a nice lady will let the missionaries use her phone if they buy their own data card!  These are the selfies he took while we were talking!  It was GREAT to see and talk to him!  It was also great to hear him talk to the people around him in his new language!!
