First Week in the MTC

Image
I  think I'm going to just keep the emails to the family for right now. The mtc isn't super thrilling. last Friday we went though the temple with Elder Omae. It was a lot of fun. A really cool experience. All my district is going to Fiji except two elders who are going to Oakland speaking Fijian. This was a great week I love my companion and our whole district. It really makes it easy. We have learned a lot of Fijian this last week. I know how to pray, share my testimony and share a scripture all in Fijian. It's so crazy. I'm doing good and settling in.  Big shout out to mom and Emma who have sent me packages. I've shared with my district and it was awesome so thank you. I'm doing good, sorry if I don't email you back directly I don't have a lot of time. I like letters so they are easy to read all week just saying. I love you all very much. so much that I've been praying that i forget a little about you so I an have an easier time. Ha ha...

Bula vinaka,

Image
Bula vinaka,             It has been along two days... its really hard right now especially at night. I keep on wanting to go get Alamo. However; I know it's hard for a reason. I know this is where I'm meant to be but man its not my favorite place.Every one of my classes and room are at the very top of the building, so we walk.  We got our language books yesterday and I'm already overwhelmed. it is so different than Spanish and English however;  I will press forward!  My companion is from Papua New Guinea. and he got here late on Wednesday. So that was great! I have pictures but I'm not sure how to up load them but I'll try. Me and Elder Omae have the opportunity to go through the temple we are taking out his endowments. I will act as his escort so prayers are appreciated.  I also lost my ring and getting a new one would be great 8.5 this time I'm losing weight. Also my mail box is 88 and for everyone not fa...

These pictures speak for themselves, it's hard to leave home but I know this is where I need to be!

Farewell and Setting Apart

Image
My Farewell was Sept. 16th and that morning I received my Patriarchal Blessing.  It was a great blessing, and very clearly told me that I had a calling to teach about Christ and bring souls back into the Abrahamic Covenant, Patriarch Merrill even called me "one of Abraham's boys".   I spoke about the Book of Mormon, and courage and bravery and my sisters and sister-in-laws sang.  It was a great meeting!  Then we had a family dinner with lots of desserts brought by kind and helpful ward members.  I'm very lucky to be loved so much! Practicing their song! Tuesday night I was set apart as a missionary and I became Elder Swallow. Pres. Mcmurdie, Bishop Miller, and Dad my three priesthood leaders

Getting My Mission Call

Image
My name is Thomas Dan Swallow and I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  I have planned all my life to serve a mission for my church and share my testimony and love of the Savior with others.  This is the year that that dream comes true.  In May I received a call to serve a mission in Suva, Fiji. I had a great support network with me while I opened my call, I am so grateful for my friends and family and the example they set for me.  I started an instagram page called #Fijibound  to share my testimony with others.
